 2010 RIESLING

 rieslabel2010.jpg

We sourced the grapes for this wine from the Hadley Hall Vineyard in the heart of the Frankland River region. The cool to mild inland climate of this region, provides ideal conditions for great riesling to be grown. The lean granite based sandy loam soils produce rieslings with a distinctive chalky, mineral character which is unique to this area.

The grapes were handpicked and gently pressed at a Frankland River winery a few hours later. The fermentation was carried out at our winery at Chapman Hill at cool temperatures to preserve the crisp citrus flavours characteristic of the variety. The wine was filtered and bottled in late June.

Tasting Notes

The 2010 Riesling is a wine of great intensity and elegance. Aromas of lime, grapefruit and freshly cut pear, are mixed with powerful lingering flavours of lime rind and sweet lemon on the palate. Chalky, mineral flavours run through the palate, balanced by a crisp acidity and a fine elegant tannin structure.

This elegant style of wine is based on the great rieslings from the South Australian regions of Eden Valley and Clare Valley.

Key Points:

* Intense varietal flavours

* Elegant, crisp style

* Structure and acidity to age well
