Temporary Closure of our Cellar Door and Wine Sensory Garden Due to COVID-19 Effective from Thursday 19 March
The situation of the COVID-19 pandemic is changing rapidly, and every day there is new information. We don’t know how bad it might become or how long it will be around. What we do know is that it is, and has been, very bad in some places around the world. We have been monitoring the situation and public health messages very closely, and hearing that dramatic and decisive action, if taken early, can help ‘flatten the curve’ substantially. So, we have decided today to follow this advice.
Whicher Ridge welcomes hundreds of visitors from around Australia and from the world each year at our Cellar Door and Wine Sensory, so we are acutely aware of our responsibility to protect the health of us and our family, our visitors, and the broader Busselton and Margaret River community at a time like this.
We are right in the midst of the 2020 vintage which will finish sometime around the middle to end of May. Risking the successful completion of our harvest due to disruptions caused by the unfolding COVID-19 pandemic is a serious concern for us. The weather too, is not making it any easier as we have been experiencing unseasonably wet conditions, which is not making things any easier to manage.
Taking everything into account, and mindful that the COVID-19 situation is changing rapidly, we have now decided that the best course of action to take is to temporarily close our Cellar Door and Wine Sensory Garden to the public from Thursday 19 March until at least the end of May. We will now offer private tastings at our Cellar Door by prior appointment only.
We believe that by taking these meaningful and decisive steps now, we will protect the health of our family and our visitors, and do our part to help ‘flatten the curve’ for the benefit of the community as a whole, while also ensuring we make the best wines we possibly can from this vintage.
These are strange and unsettling times for everyone, but we are hopeful that we can re-open and return to our full wine tourism offering late in May, or sooner. In the meantime, please do support us and continue to purchase our wine on-line from our website, and use our ‘Click and Deliver’ service if you are locals. If you live in Perth and interstate, shipping to you will be FREE for this period. With your continuing support, we will pop out the other end of this crisis, still here as a small wine producer and stronger than ever. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you might have, to make appointments for private tastings, or for any wine orders.
